Sixth Meeting of the Pew Commission on Children in Foster Care
In preparation for the release of the Commission’s recommendations, the Commission held its sixth meeting in late March in Philadelphia, PA. Commissioners finalized financing and court recommendations, and began work on report language. The Commission’s recommendations will be released in mid-May, in Washington, DC.

The Commission held its fifth meeting in late February in Miami, FL. Commissioners continued to work towards development of financing and court recommendations to improve outcomes for children in foster care.

Fourth Meeting of the Pew Commission on Children in Foster Care
The Commission held its fourth meeting early in the second week in January in Atlanta, GA. Commissioners continued their ongoing discussion of federal financing and court oversight of child welfare. While the Commission does not yet have final recommendations, members have agreed on a set of key elements that are intrinsic to any financing recommendations that they might propose. Similarly, in the course of the Commission's research and deliberation in the arena of court oversight, several issues and themes have consistently recurred that are guiding our exploration of policy recommendations.

The Pew Commission met for the third time last week in San Francisco, CA. At this
meeting, Commission members heard directly from caseworkers from public and private agencies who work in and around the Bay Area. Read more

The second meeting of the Pew Commission was held on September 18 and 19 in Minneapolis, MN. At this meeting, Commission members heard directly from foster and adoptive parents about their experiences with the foster care system. Read more

First Meeting of the Pew Commission on Children in Foster Care
The Pew Commission on Children in Foster Care held its first meeting May 27 through May 29, 2003 in Washington, D.C. In preparation for that meeting, Commission staff prepared several background and briefing papers related to the organization and financing of child welfare services, court oversight of child welfare cases, and the relevant legislative histories. Additionally, Commission members had an extended discussion with four adolescents currently in foster care. Read more
